IPhone X Wants to Know Your Face

With futuristic tech like a new Super Retina Display, TrueDepth Camera, Face Identification Login, and an upgraded processor the new Apple IPhone X skips a generation and the leap into the new numeral is totally worth it!

In a surprise move that shocked many leak-followers and people in the tech industry, today Apple launched the new IPhone X in Cupertino, California. Along with the Iphone 8 release the new IPhone X debuted as the new flagship model as well and will have amazing some features many tech enthusiasts and investors were truly hyped for.

The new phone dons a beautiful all screen design that forgoes the home button in favor of more screen real estate. The IPhone X screen meets the edges of the phone precisely and executes a nice transition into the round frame. The entire back of the phone is also comprised of glass for an extra shiny and sexy appearance that will surely get covered by a case unless accessory makers get extra savvy with their designs. The double sided glass design will now have the potential to become a nightmare scenario for those lacking the most basic dexterity (Note to self: buy a case).

Aside from more surface area as well, the 5.8 screen is also  made up of OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes) which means apple will finally be able to unlock amazing color and contrast technology that will provide an amazing color space display. The new 2436 x 1125 resolution  OLED screen will be compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10 versions of High Dynamic Range that were previously only found on premium tv’s.

Another cool feature of the IPhone X screen that may have gone under the radar is that the smart-phone will be able to monitor the lighting conditions in your environment in order to give you the best White Balance possible when looking at it. This subtle feature is called “True Tone” and should almost be as big to color-purists as the inclusion of OLED tech.

The camera features on the IPhone X’s rear camera system sound familiar and will feature a 12-megapixel sensor with dual optical image stabilization technology for both the telephoto and wide-angle lenses. The wide-angle lense will continue to have an aperture of f/1.8 while the telephoto will feature a f/2.8 opening.  While these options sound like the ones found in the Iphone 7S, the true upgrade comes on the front facing camera. It too will now be able to capture images with tremendous depth of field effects that will surely take your selfie game to the next level.

Another great sc-fi-esque’ addition to the IPhone X is the implementation of Face Identification and Authorization. The phone will be able to ID your mug in order to log into your phone, your secure apps, and even enable Apple Pay. The phone will use over 30,000 Projected IR Dots in order to map your face and it will even recognize changes to your face over time. Our biggest concern was functionality in bad lighting but Apple went on to mention that Face ID will work in low light as well. We’ll see if it can withstand the Movember Beard frenzy however, but we are confident Apple will execute the technology well.

It has been a while since we’ve been this excited over an Apple phone and cannot wait to get our hands or maybe in this case our faces on it. The IPhone X will be available for order on October 27 starting at a cool $999 for the 64gb model and  the higher 256gb model will retail for $1149.00. You can pre-order directly here through the apple store on the date mentioned above or stay tuned to your favorite electronic retailer for exact order details.
